World Cup: Argentina qualify for quarter-finals as Messi leads stunning 3-2 comeback to beat Egypt
Defending champion Argentina qualified for the quarter-finals of the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup after defeating the Pharaohs of Egypt 3-2.
Argentina who were down by two goals from Egypt Yasser Ibrahim and Mostafa Zico, equalized during the later part of the second half through the instrumentality of Lionel Messi who provided Romero with an assist for the first goal, while scoring the second goal four minutes later.
Enzo Fernandez scored in stoppage time to give Argentina an incredible 3-2 victory over Egypt and a spot in the World Cup quarter-finals on Tuesday.
Messi had missed a penalty in the first half after his shot was saved by Egypt goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir.
