Veteran actor Olu Jacobs dies at 84
Veteran Nollywood actor Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, popularly known as Olu Jacobs, has passed on at the age of 84.
His death was announced in an Instagram post by his wife, actress Joke Silva, on Wednesday September 16.
“It is with gratitude to God for a life well lived and fought, that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather and uncle. The Lion of Lufodo,” the statement read.
“We call on all bloggers and social media influencers to respect our family’s privacy at this time,” the statement added.
Jacobs built a distinguished acting career spanning several decades, having trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.
He appeared on British television productions and international films before becoming one of Nollywood’s biggest actors.
The Federal Government honoured him with the Member of the Order of the Federal Republic for his contribution to the arts in 2011.
