I want to enjoy Nigeria at old age, Remi Tinubu says, rallies support for Tinubu’s re-election

Nigeria’s first lady Oluremi Tinubu, said she is willing to work for Nigeria so that she can enjoy the country at old age.

She appealed to south-east voters to support the re-election of her husband, noting that she and the president were working to improve the country.

She made the appeal on Wednesday in Owerri, Imo State during an official visit for an empowerment program.

“I want to enjoy Nigeria at old age, so I will work for Nigeria, for my old age,” she said.

She stated that the empowerment program was being carried out through the office of the senior special assistant to the president on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), of which 18,500 women across the country would be beneficiaries.

She said while 500 women from each of the five south-east states would receive various items, governor Hope Uzodimma, had provided additional empowerment items for 2,000 women in the state, bringing the total number of beneficiaries in Imo to 2,500.

She further announced a hundred thousand naira cash donation to each of the beneficiaries in support of the governor’s gesture.

“Recognising the typical role women play in nation building, this is in line with the agenda of Mr president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which prioritises economic growth and sustainable development for all Nigerians, particularly women,” the first lady said.

She urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the resources.

“Let it serve as a foundation for creating a better life for you and your family,” she said.

The traditional institution in Imo also conferred the first lady with the chieftaincy title “Osodieme”.
