Former Kogi governor Ibrahim Idris dies in UK
Former governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris has passed on in the United Kingdom.
Reports say Idris died on Sunday in the UK at the age of 77.
Kogi State governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, former governor Yahaya Bello, and top kogi government functionaries have paid a condolence visit to the family of the deceased in his Abuja residence, following the news.
Special sdviser to Kogi State governor on public relations, Onogwu Muhammed, disclosed the visit in a Facebook post:
“Kogi State Governor, His Excellency Ahmed Usman Ododo; former Governor Yahaya Bello, CON; Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Abdullahi Bello; and other top government officials have arrived at the Abuja residence of the late former Governor Ibrahim Idris, who passed away this afternoon,” he wrote.
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has also mourned the former governor, describing him as a significant figure in Kogi’s political history.
Idris served as Kogi State governor from 2003 to 2012. As at the time of filing this report, the circumstances surrounding his death were yet to be disclosed.
