Türkiye’s president Erdoğan hosts Osimhen, Galatasaray teammates following Süper Lig title
The President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has hosted Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen and his Galatasaray teammates.
This is coming in the wake of the club’s triumph in the Süper Lig title race, winning their 26th title, and leaving its closest rival Fenerbahçe three points behind.
Osimhen scored 15 league goals during the campaign, providing five assists in 22 matches.
The Super Eagles striker also secured seven goals and three assists in 10 UEFA Champions League games before the team lost to Liverpool in the round of 16.
President Erdoğan honoured the team with a reception following their Süper Lig victory, at the Presidential Complex in Ankara, as the club’s president Dursun Özbek presented Erdoğan with the club’s jersey during the event.
Galatasaray will become the first club in Turkish football history to win five consecutive league championships should they emerge champion at the Süper Lig race next season.
With several clubs like Barcelona, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and others across Europe now showing interest in Osimhen, Galatasaray May be unwilling to let go of its top striker.
Osimhen’s successful outings with the club has so far earned him three titles.
