“TRIBUTE TO AN UNCLE AND A LEADER: CHARLES IDAHOSA
The news of the demise of Uncle Charles Idahosa came to me as a rude shock, which I still find difficult to accept. I first met Uncle Charles when he came to visit my father in the early 80s, at which time my dad was introducing me to politics. Uncle Charles was a community leader and a true party man.
During the Lucky Igbinedion administration, he was Commissioner for Information alongside Ebomwonyi who was Commissioner for Sports. I had to enter an agreement with the State Government to manage Bendel United, of which Uncle Charles played a most crucial role in the entire process as Commissioner for Information.
When the news of his demise broke out on December 20, 2025, it was like the cloud stood still and the wind ceased to move.
Uncle Charles was a lover of politics without bitterness. He was not only committed to Edo State politics and its people but to the nation, having lived a life committed to serving his community, starting from Ehor, through Uhunmwode LGA to the entire State.
He will be sincerely missed by his family, party, colleagues and friends.
It is cheering to know that he spent his last days as a democrat, having officially joined the only progressive party in the Country, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He was a dedicated party man and an astute statesman; a mobilizer whose contributions significantly impacted grassroot engagement, strengthening support for the party in Edo State.
His death is a huge loss to me personally and also to many others who knew him or have heard of him.
As he has embarked on his final journey, I wish him a peaceful rest in the bosom of the Lord, while I pray God Almighty to grant his family the fortitude to bear the loss.
Adieu, Uncle Charles Idahosa!
Chief Dr. Solomon Edibiri (JP) MON”
