Solomon Arase, former Police IG dies at 69
Former Nigerian Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Solomon Ehigiator Arase has passed on at the age of 69. He died on Sunday at Cedarcrest Hospital in Abuja.
Arase served as Nigeriaās 18th Inspector-General of Police before he was later appointed as Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC).
He also headed the Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Bureau, the police forceās top intelligence unit, before becoming Inspector General of Police.
Arase who was born in Owan West local government area of Edo State, served in several strategic positions throughout his career, before retiring from the Force in 2016 and afterwards, appointed Chairman of the Police Service Commission by late former President Muhammadu Buhari; a position he held until 2024.
Arase who was widely respected for his dedication to police welfare and his reform-driven leadership, also displayed commitment to education, youth empowerment, and social impact through the Solomon Ehigiator Arase Foundation (SEAF).
The late former IGP would be remembered for his reforms, patriotic service and principled leadership.
