Philanthropist judge Frank Caprio dies at 88
United States judge and social media celebrity Frank Caprio, has passed on at age 88.
Caprio had made public in December 2023 his health challenges wherein he was diagnosed of pancreatic cancer.
His final round of radiation treatment was said to have been completed in May 2024.
He posted on social media on August 19 2025 from his hospital bed in Providence, that he had been admitted following a health complication. He died the following day, on August 20.
His son, David Caprio has thanked fans for their love and support, urging them to “spread a little kindness” in his father’s memory.
Caprio served as a Providence Municipal Court Judge from 1985 to 2023.
His kind hearted gestures and humour in the courtroom earned him the title ‘nicest judge in the world’ on the social media space.
His official social media accounts said on Wednesday that he passed away peacefully after a prolonged and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Caprio billed his courtroom as a place “where people and cases are met with kindness and compassion.”
He is survived by his wife Joyce E. Caprio, five children: Frank T. Caprio, David Caprio, Marissa Caprio Pesce, John Caprio, and Paul Caprio, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren
