Nnamdi Kanu removed from courtroom for ‘unruly’ conduct

Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court Abuja, on Thursday, while delivering judgement on Nnamdi Kanu’s terrorism trial, ordered the removal of the leader of the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) from the courtroom due to his “unruly” behaviour.

The judge had dismissed three fresh motions filed by the IPOB leader, which the court deemed unmeritorious, with Kanu interjecting during the ruling, stating that the court could not proceed since he was yet to file his final written address.

While Omotosho kept delivering judgment, Kanu raised his voice, stating, “‘Which law states that you can charge me on an unwritten law? Show me. Omotosho, where is the law? Any judgment declared in this Court is a complete rubbish.”

He further accused the judge of bias, claiming that the judge lacked understanding of the law.

The prosecution, after recess, cited Kanu’s disruptive behaviour and urged the court to continue the trial without him.

Kanu was moved out of the courtroom, while the judge carried on with the final judgment in his absence.
