Man stabs lover to death over cheating in Rivers
A man simply identified as ‘Doctor’ has allegedly stabbed his female lover to death over suspicion of cheating. The incident was said to have occurred on Sunday at Okereke Street in Mile 1, Diobu axis of Port Harcourt in Rivers State.
According to reports, the man had accused his female lover, identified as Ima, of cheating, which led to inflamed emotional exchanges between them, before she was stabbed.
The incident attracted a crowd of sympathizers and onlookers outside the Azikiwe Police Division on Monday morning when the lady’s remains was brought to the station, before it was taken to an undisclosed mortuary.
The spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe Koko, who confirmed the incident, said that the case has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department.
“As we speak, the Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department in Port Harcourt for discreet probe,” the police spokesperson said.
