INEC urges Nigerians to register before deadline as CVR ends July 26
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has urged Nigerians of voting age to participate in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) as the commission has insisted on the closure of the exercise on Sunday July 26, 2026.
INEC made the disclosure on Sunday in a post on X (formerly Twitter), urging eligible Nigerians to take advantage of the final registration opportunity and voter records update, in view of the 2027 general election.
āTime is running out, but thereās still an opportunity to make your voice count.
āRegister to vote or update your voter information before the close of Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) today, Sunday, 26 July 2026,” INEC wrote.
According to the electoral body, registration process can be completed through the CVR portal or a visitation to its state and local government offices before the closure of the exercise.
The commission said the exercise also covers voter transfer requests, correction of personal information and the replacement of lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
The nationwide exercise has been conducted in phases over the past year, with the first phase commencing in August and ending in December 2025, and INEC recording 2,572,054 completed registrations nationwide.
The second phase ran from January 5 to April 17, 2026, with 3,748,704 completed registrations across the country.
The third phase which ends today July 26, 2026, began in May, witnessing an additional two-week extension in the course of the exercise.
