‘I am ready to die’ in struggle to rescue Nigeria — Peter Obi
Former governor of Anambra and presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, said he is ready to die alongside Nigerians ready to defend their votes.
Obi made the remarks during a town hall meeting in Port Harcourt on Thursday, urging supporters not to get intimidated as political activities intensify.
“Don’t be intimidated. Somebody said ‘We are ready to die.’ Let me tell you, I’m equally ready to die. So you’re not alone.”
Obi urged supporters to participate in and defend the electoral process.
“All they want is for you to defend and demand that the vote must count. And that is the demand we are going to make, and make aggressively.
“Yes, they will try to manipulate it. But let me tell you, it will not be easy this time,” he stressed.
He further asserted that the country could only be rescued through collective action.
“So if your hands are short, go to that campaign, believing that all of us will rescue our country,” Obi stated.
He warned against allowing electoral irregularities to persist.
“By allowing them to continue, that glitch will glitch our life. That’s why we are suffering today,” the NDC presidential candidate added.
