FG says WAEC result glitch resolved

The Federal Ministry of Education has said that the post-release processing glitch in subjects where paper serialisation was implemented in the recently released West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations results, has been resolved.

This was contained in a statement by the Director of Press Folasade Boriowo on Thursday, who commended the West African Examinations Council for its swift response in resolving the glitch while appreciating the patience of affected candidates, assuring the public of continued pursuit of fairness and credibility in assessment processes.

Boriowo said that the Minister of Education’s reform agenda prioritizes examination integrity across all bodies under the Ministry’s supervision, specifically WAEC and the National Examinations Council (NECO), noting that the bodies were now set to commence a phased rollout of Computer-Based Testing (CBT) in November 2026.

According to Boriowo, “The adoption of CBT represents a critical step toward curbing malpractice, preventing question leakages, and restoring public trust in the examination system. It is a necessary reform to ensure Nigerian students are assessed strictly on merit and that their certificates retain credibility both locally and internationally.”

She stated the Minister of Education, Dr. Morufe Alausa continues to place emphasis on safeguarding the integrity of examinations and upholding high standards, which according to her, protects the future of young people and Nigeria’s reputation in the global community.
