Dangote truck kills three, injures one in Edo
Three persons have reportedly lost their lives on Sunday in a multiple road accident which occurred along Auchi-Okpella-Okene road, close to Omega Fire Ministries, Etsako-West local government area of Edo State.
It was gathered that the truck heading towards Benin, rammed into three vehicles, leading to the death of three persons on the spot. One person was also said to have sustained injury.
According to reports, the deceased were identified as two males and one female. One of the vehicles involved in the accident, a Mercedes GLK was said to have been damaged beyond repair.
The Edo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Cyril Mathew, confirming the incident, said the accident was as a result of brake failure.
According to him, “The truck had a brake failure, and in the process, rammed into three vehicles, killing three persons and injuring one.
“Six persons were involved in the accident, three died including two male and one female adults while two others escaped unhurt. Four people were in the Mercedes, three of them died and one injured.”
The FRSC boss admonished truck drivers to ensure proper maintenance of their vehicles to enable easy control to safety when mechanical issues arise, while also urging them to avoid over-speeding.
Recall that a few days ago, Wednesday precisely, Ruth Otabor, sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner Phyna, was involved in an accident with a Dangote cement truck which left her with severe leg damage leading to the amputation of her leg.
The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday, just six days after Ms Otabor graduated from Auchi Polytechnic. She’s currently at the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital where she is receiving treatment.
