British drones used in recent Ukrainian strikes on Russia, Kremlin warns UK of consequences

Russia said British-made drones had been used in recent Ukrainian strikes against the country, accusing the UK of escalating the Russia-Ukraine crisis.

The Russian embassy confirmed the development in a statement on Tuesday, noting: “In doing so, the United Kingdom is acting as an accomplice and co-perpetrator of the bloody crimes and terrorist attacks.

“London’s actions will inevitably carry consequences for which it will have to answer.”

Responding in a statement, a spokesperson for the UK defence ministry, stated that Britain stood “shoulder to shoulder” with Ukraine.

“Russia should be in no doubt about the resolve of this Government to stand against Russian aggression, in Ukraine and against the UK and our allies,” the statement read in part, adding that the UK was “committed to providing the equipment Ukraine needs to defend itself against Putin’s illegal invasion”.

Russia and Ukraine have recently witnessed exchange of attacks, with British-made drones used against Russian military and industrial targets, causing more than £35bn economic damage to Kremlin, according to reports.

Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, currently controlling approximately one-fifth of Ukrainian territory.

Ukraine fired 822 drones towards Russia, with 600 aiming for Moscow, as the Russian capital suffered “one of the most massive drone attacks in recent memory”, according to its regional governor, with seven deaths reported across the country.

Russian attacks on the same night against Ukraine saw the death of at least seven persons, with 39 others suffering varying degrees of injuries.
