APC sells presidential forms for N100m, releases timetable for election primaries

The All Progressives Congress in a timetable signed by its National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, has fixed May 15 to 23 2026, for the conduct of primaries across all elective positions, with the presidential primaries slated for May 15 and 16, while governorship primaries to hold May 23, in view of the forthcoming 2027 general election in the country.

Other primary elections are scheduled for May 18 (House of Representatives), May 20 (Senate) and May 21 (State Houses of Assembly).

According to the timetable, presidential aspirants would pay N100 million for expression of interest and nomination forms, governorship aspirants N50 million, Senate aspirants N20 million, House of Reps aspirants N10 million, while House of Assembly aspirants would pay N6 million.

Female aspirants, youths, and persons with disabilities are only to pay for the expression of interest form and 50 percent of the nomination fees for respective positions.

Form sales holding at the party’s National Headquarters in Wuse II, Abuja, would last between April 25 to May 2, with May 4 fixed as deadline for forms submission.

Screening of aspirants, publication of results and appeals would hold between May 6 and 13, with screening of presidential aspirants scheduled for May 9, while all election appeals are to hold between May 18 and 25.

In a statement released by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, speaking on the timetable, party members were assured of credible and transparent primary elections.

The statement read in part: “The APC reassures members, stakeholders, and Nigerians of its commitment to conducting a credible and transparent primary election that will further strengthen the Party’s internal democracy and consolidate its progressive ideals.”

Meanwhile the Independent National Electoral Commission has fixed Saturday, January 16 2027, for presidential and National Assembly elections, while governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections are scheduled for Saturday, February 6, 2027.

INEC fixed April 23, 2026 and May 30, 2026 for all party primaries and resolution of disputes.

The commission further stated that campaigns for the presidential and National Assembly elections would commence August 19, 2026.

Campaigns for governorship and Houses of Assembly elections are to begin September 9, according to INEC.
