Anthony Joshua injured in car crash in Nigeria, two feared dead
British boxer and former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been involved in a car crash in the Makun axis, of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ogun State.
The incident which was reported to have occurred at about 11 am on Monday, was confirmed by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Babaseyi Oluseyi, who said that the former heavy weight champion has now been rescued and hospitalized.
Oluseyi stated that Joshua and others who sustained injuries were rushed to a nearby hospital yet to be disclosed.
“The Ogun State Police Command confirms a road accident today in front of Sinoma, before Danco, along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway. Anthony Joshua and other injured persons have been rushed to the hospital. Further updates will be communicated,” Oluseyi said.
Witnesses say that the Lexus Jeep conveying Joshua collided with a stationary truck, with two deaths recorded on the spot, while Joshua and a few others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
