Spanish footballer Jesús de Miguel dies after on-field collision
Tenerife striker Jesus de Miguel has passed on at the age of 30, following a collision during a football match in a Spanish second division game.
He died on Tuesday November 3, a day after suffering a cardiac arrest in an on-field collision with Andorra’s goalkeeper Jesus Owono.
The keeper had rushed out of his area to tackle a long pass and accidentally hit de Miguel on the chest with his knee.
The Spanish footballer who sustained severe chest and head injuries in addition to a cardiac arrest, was treated immediately by paramedics for over 5 minutes on the pitch, before he was later resuscitated in an ambulance.

While at the hospital de Miguel was reported to be stable. A worsened overnight condition however resulted in his death on Tuesday morning.
The game against Andorra was abandoned seven minutes into stoppage time following de Miguel’s collapse.
Meanwhile, Spanish police have begun investigations into a possible involuntary manslaughter charge following de Miguel’s passing, according to sources, as authorities say that the investigation was only a routine procedure.
In a statement, CD Tenerife mourned the death of their forward.
“Racked with pain, with a lump in our throats and unable to believe that this is true, from CD Tenerife we communicate the tragic passing of Jesus de Miguel Alameda.
“There are no words of comfort; there is absolutely nothing that can alleviate this feeling overflowing with sadness,” the club said.
The opposing team, Andorra, also said in a statement that they “share deeply” in Tenerife’s sadness, while requesting a postponement of their next match against RCD Mallorca, initially scheduled for Sunday.
Gerard Pique, Andorra President wrote on social media: “I’m sorry with all my heart. Rest in peace Jesus.”
