Nnamdi Kanu: Court fixes Nov 20 to deliver judgment in terrorism case
The Federal High Court in Abuja will deliver judgment in the terrorism charges against Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on Thursday November 20.
This was made known by Justice James Omotosho while ruling on the matter, with Kanu failing to open his defence, after exhausting the allocated six days by the court to present his case.
The judge stated that the defendant could henceforth not claim to have been denied his constitutionally guaranteed right to a fair hearing, following his failure to utilise the opportunity granted to him to make his defence.
Kanu on Friday stated that the earlier Terrorism Prevention and Prohibition Act had been repealed, and as such, there were no valid charges against him, thereby challenging his trial on the grounds that terrorism was no longer an offence in Nigeria.
He asked the court to dismiss the charges against him while maintaining there was no case against him.
