Suspect in Charlie Kirk’s murder makes first court appearance
Tyler Robinson, the suspect in the murder of Charlie Kirk, appeared virtually for his first court hearing on Tuesday in an Utah county court.
Tyler Robinson was charged with seven counts including aggravated murder as prosecutors move to seek the death penalty.
The presiding judge Tony Graf said that 22-year-old Tyler Robinson would be remanded in custody without bail in the meantime.
While reading the charges to the accused, judge Graf stated that a review of Tyler’s declaration of financial status found him indigent and as such, he would be provisionally appointed an attorney to represent him.
Robinson who is the suspect in the fatal shooting of United States conservative activitist Charlie Kirk was taken into custody at about 10 p.m. Thursday night, after a 33-hour manhunt.
Charlie Kirk was fatally shot on stage at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, for a TPUSA event, āThe American Comeback Tourā. The incident was reported to have taken place around 12:20 p.m. MDT (18:20 UTC), just 20 minutes after the event began, in front of an audience of about 3,000 people.
Authorities have described Kirkās killing as a political assassination, as they discovered anti-fascist messages engraved on ammunition with a rifle near the site of the shooting.
