4 PDP Senators defect to APC, Akpabio announces
The Nigerian Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has announced the defection of four Senators from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Akpabio made the announcement on Wednesday at plenary, while reading from their respective letters where the defectors cited irreconcilable differences in the PDP as reason for their defection. Akpabio then asked that the Senators be documented by the Clerk of the Senate.
The Senators who cross-carpeted include: Senators Francis Fadahunsi representing Osun East and Oluwole Olubiyi from Osun Central.
Others are Senator Aniekan Bassey, representing Akwa Ibom North East and Senator Samson Ekong from Akwa Ibom South East.
The composition of the Senate following the current defections is now as follows: APC 70, PDP 28; Labour Party 5, NNPP 1, SDP 2 and APGA 1.
