27 farmers reportedly killed in fresh gunmen attack in Plateau
Bindi-Jebbu in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State has witnessed a fresh gunmen attack on Monday which has reportedly led to the death of 27 farmers. The attack also left many injured, with several persons rushed to hospitals.
According to reports, the Chairman of Riyom LGA, Bature Sati Shuwa, who though acknowledged the incident, could not give the casualty figure as of press time. Security agencies were yet to also issue any statement on the situation.
The gunmen, alleged to be members of the Fulani ethnic extraction, stomped the community, shooting sporadically and setting several houses ablaze. Twenty-seven persons were reportedly killed and many injured.
The attack has highlighted the security challenges in Plateau and neighboring States where communities are being targeted by armed militias of recent. Citizens are concerned about the current state of security in the nation as many have called for increased security measures to protect lives and property.
