Trump orders US naval blockade in Strait of Hormuz as peace talks fail in Islamabad

The United States President Donald Trump has ordered the US Navy to commence the immediate blockade of the Strait of Hormuz as peace talks between the US and Iran in Islamabad failed during the weekend.

Vice President J.D. Vance who led the US team for the peace talks, said earlier that there was no deal reached between the US and Iran, tagging it “bad news for Iran”.

Trump said the US Navy will begin a blockade of the Strait and interdict vessels that have paid a toll to the Iranians.

In a post on Truth Social Trump wrote: “Effective immediately, the United States Navy, the Finest in the World, will begin the process of blockading any and all ships trying to enter or leave the Strait of Hormuz.

“At some point, we will reach an ‘ALL BEING ALLOWED TO GO IN, ALL BEING ALLOWED TO GO OUT’ basis, but Iran has not allowed that to happen… This is world extortion.”

Trump said the US would deny safe passage to vessels that paid the toll, as its Navy commences the clearing of the sea mines.

Iran’s earlier closure of the strait has upset the global economic market, as reopening it was a key condition for a peace deal with the US.

Trump restated the demand in a second post saying: “They better begin… getting this International water way open fast!”

The US Navy blockading the Strait would spell economic doom for Iran, as the sea route the Iranians rely on for commercial activities, including the movement of oil vessels would be totally shut off.

Based on Trump’s directive no vessel is allowed to go in or out through the Strait.

More to come…
