Pit collapses in Plateau killing four miners
Four miners have reportedly lost their lives in Plateau after a mining pit collapsed on them.
The incident was said to have occurred on Tuesday in the Baban Rafi area of Bokkos local government area.
Bokkos Youth Leader, Daniel Tula, in a telephone interview with news agencies, said the victims comprised two men and two women, noting that it was the first such incident would be recorded in the community.
Tula said the four victims who were mining tin inside the pit when it collapsed, have been buried by their relatives.
According to reports, the Plateau State Police Command said it had not received any official report on the incident.
The Command’s spokesperson, Alfred Alabo, said in a telephone interview that he had not been briefed about the reported deaths, promising to provide further details once briefed on the incident.
