FG assures security as unity colleges resume Monday

The Federal Government has assured parents and stakeholders of adequate security as unity colleges resume on Monday September 14, 2026.

It said necessary arrangements have been put in place for a safe and smooth start to the new academic session.

The education ministry stated that relevant security agencies were maintaining heightened vigilance around the colleges and their immediate environs.

Education minister, Tunji Alausa, said the safety and wellbeing of students and staff remain government’s priority.

“The Federal Ministry of Education has reaffirmed that all Federal Unity Colleges nationwide will resume academic activities on Monday, September 14, 2026, as scheduled, assuring students, parents, guardians and other stakeholders that necessary arrangements are in place to support a safe, smooth and seamless commencement of the new academic session,” the ministry said on Friday.

The minister, in a statement signed by the ministry’s spokesperson, Boriowo Folasade, urged parents and guardians to remain calm and continue preparations for resumption.

He further directed school authorities to work closely with security agencies while urging cooperation and support from parents, teachers and other stakeholders.

He said the ministry would continue to put in place necessary measures to ensure a smooth and safe resumption, while reaffirming government’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s education system.
