Supreme Court dismisses Turaki-led PDP appeal, nullifies Ibadan convention

The Supreme Court has nullified the national convention held by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibadan, Oyo State, while dismissing the appeal filed by the Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee (NWC).

Justice Stephen Adah who delivered the lead judgement ruled that the convention conducted on November 15 and 16 2025, was held in defiance of an existing judgment delivered by Justice Omotosho of the Federal High Court Abuja.

Three justices of the five-member panel held that the appeal filed by the Turaki-led faction lacked merit, while affirming the verdict of the Federal High Court and the Court of Appeal against the convention.

Justice Adah held that a subsisting order of the Federal High Court was violated by the appellants who proceeded with the planned convention despite being already restrained.
