Super Eagles defeat Iran 2-1 in international friendlies
The Super Eagles of Nigeria on Friday defeated the Iranian national team 2 – 1 in an international friendly match played in Antalya, Turkiye.
Goals from Simon Moses and Akor Adams secured victory for Nigeria against their Middle East opponent.
Nigeria opened with an early goal when Simon Moses found the net in the 7th minute, assisted by Samuel Chukwueze. Akor Adams added another goal in the 52nd minute to double Eagles’ lead.
Mehdi Taremi scored the lone Iranian goal in the 67th minute, but was not enough to give them a draw, as Nigeria held on to secure the win.
Through these friendlies Nigeria is able to assess team combinations and prepare the squad ahead of competitive matches.
The Nigerian side will be facing Jordan national football team next on March 31 at Mardan Stadyumu in Antalya, Turkey, as part of a four-nation tournament aimed at squad rebuilding.
