Gas station explodes in Calabar, injures many
A gas station which exploded in Calabar, the Cross River State capital, on Saturday, has left many residents with injuries.
Reports say the explosion occurred at a filling station in Calabar south, triggering panic in the area.
Nearby buildings and property were also affected by the blast, leaving victims with varying degrees of injuries.
According to Eyewitnesses, the explosion caused residents and passersby to scamper for safety as fire engulfed parts of the station.
As at the time of this report, emergency responders and security personnel have been deployed to the scene to assist the victims and contain the situation.
The Governor of Cross River State, Bassey Otu, is expected to visit the scene of the explosion and assess the level of damage.
