Okpebholo, Obaseki mourn Charles Idahosa’s passing at 72
The incumbent Governor of Edo State Monday Okpebholo and the immediate past Governor Godwin Obaseki, have mourned the death of a statesman Charles Idahosa who was popularly known as Charlie Tempo.
A family member who chose anonymity confirmed his death, stating that the late Idahosa was full of life the morning before his sudden demise.
Idahosa was very vocal as a political adviser during the eight years rule of Governor Adams Oshiomhole.
Idahosa who passed at the age of 72, also served as a commissioner under the administration of Lucky Igbinedion.
Responding to his death, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo via a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Patrick Ebojele, expressed shock at his sudden demise, while condoling with the Idahosa Family of Ehor in Uhwumwode local government area of the State.
Okpebholo described Idahosa as a formidable party leader and a respectable indigene of Edo who made sacrifices for the growth and development of the State.
He further prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased, while asking God to comfort his wife, children, family and the people of Ehor for the loss.
Also mourning the late Idahosa was the immediate past Governor of Edo State Godwin Obaseki, who described the deceased as an illustrious son of the State and a respected leader from Edo South.
Obaseki wrote in a statement: “I am deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Hon. Charles Idahosa, fondly referred to as Charlie Tempo.
“The late Idahosa was an illustrious son of Edo State and a respected leader from the Edo South Senatorial District, who served our State and nation in various capacities,” the statement read.
“Charlie Tempo was someone with whom I shared a personal bond. We attended the same secondary school, worshipped in the same Anglican church, and our families share longstanding ties, which makes this loss even more painful for me.
“I commiserate with the entire Idahosa family, the Oshodin family, the people of Edo South, friends and associates of the great Charlie Tempo and pray that God grants all the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” Obaseki added.
