Nigerian evangelist Uma Ukpai passes on at 80
Rev Dr. Uma Ukpai, a renowned Nigerian evangelist and spiritual leader of Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, has passed on at the age of 80.
This was confirmed by his family on Monday who described his passing as a “glorious transition”, stating that the gospel preacher passed away on October 6, 2025.
The late evangelist had a successful six decades of evangelism, teaching, and spiritual exploits, impacting millions of lives in Nigeria and around the globe.
His family said in a statement that Ukpai
“Was a faithful soldier of the cross who devoted his life to spreading the gospel with passion and integrity.”
“His teachings, prophetic insights, and mentorship have left a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire believers for years to come,” the family added.
The late Ukpai was known for his fiery evangelistic crusades. He was also a loving husband, devoted father, and a faith mentor to numerous individuals.
His family said that the life of late Ukpai bore testament to the biblical truth that “to live is Christ, and to die is gain” which can be found in the book of Philippians chapter 1 vs 21.
The family expressed gratitude for the life and work of Ukpai, saying that he “finished his race and is now resting in eternal praise.”
Details of his funeral rites would be shared in due course to the public, according to the family.
